One to One Coaching

One to one coaching is the quickest path to improving specific performance in which your coach's many years of experience and education can be applied directly to your training. One to one coaching can also foster the motivation and psychological skills necessary to succeed. This type of individualized coaching is especially useful to beginners, so that bad form is not made into bad habit, and to ensure that work outs are performed properly and to specification. One to one coaching is usually purchased by the hour and can be used in conjunction with an annual training plan. Examples include running stride analysis, cycling race techniques, bicycle fitting, and technique drills.

Annual Coaching Plan

Any athlete who wants to compete at their true performance potential needs to be on a coaching plan. Proper coaching plans are "periodized," meaning training moves through specific periods towards a training "peak." Training progresses from general to specific as the athlete approaches their peak race in which they will compete at their highest level. A coaching plan is specific to each athlete's needs. Considerations in building the plan are lifestyle, hours available to train, history, injuries, current fitness level, and long term goals. Basic nutritional counseling is usually included. If you are serious about attaining your athletic goals a training plan makes each work out count.

Metabolic Testing

Takes the guess work out of determing individual heart rate training zones. Using a quick and effective clinical test you can learn your lactate threshold, VO2 max, and true maximum heart rate allowing you to train more accurately, effectively, and safely. Most professional endurance athletes undergo regular cardiovascular testing.

Nutritional Counseling

Nutrition is the most important non-athletic training factor and is a cornerstone of a proper athletic plan. If you are not fueling and nourishing your body properly, you simply can not attain your true potential, and will be more susceptible to fatigue and injury. Let a nutritionist or coach outline an eating plan for you that includes diet balance, proper caloric consumption, exercise fuel choices, race day and competition eating, and recovery nutrition.

Speed, Strength and Power Coaching

It is important to build speed, strength and power, as well as technique and aerobic / anaerobic ability. Strength and power training is now used in just about every sport for improved performance as well as injury prevention, and is part of a well rounded and balanced year long training plan. Speed training will improve sprint times and can be the difference between winning and loosing in the final stretch. It is important to assess and train your weaknesses, not just your strengths. This type of training addresses those needs, and is a great off season tool to put you ahead of the competition.
